When Order Breaks examines natural disasters through the lens of structure and disruption.
The book is divided into two parts: Before and After. In the first section, the world is presented as ordered—layouts are clear, structured, and grid-based, reflecting stability and control. In the second, order collapses. The grid dissolves, alignments break, and empty space expands, mirroring the fragmentation that follows disaster.
Through this shift in visual language, the book uses design itself to express how systems break, adapt, and transform in the face of natural forces.
